VAAUS Proudly Welcomes MasterChef Star Kishwar Chowdhury for a Sold-Out Charity Event in Melbourne
Press Release : Viqarunnisa Alumni Australia (VAAUS) is delighted to officially welcome acclaimed MasterChef Australia star Kishwar Chowdhury to Melbourne for its sold-out charity event, Flavours of Home: An Arvo with Kishwar Chowdhury, to be held on Sunday, 26 July 2026, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Sandridge Events Centre, Port Melbourne.
The highly anticipated event promises an unforgettable culinary experience, celebrating Bangladeshi heritage, culture, and community through food while raising funds for a meaningful charitable cause.
The event’s visual identity beautifully reflects the connection between Bangladesh and Australia, featuring the iconic Ahsan Manjil of Bangladesh alongside Melbourne’s historic Flinders Street Station—symbolising the shared journey of the Bangladeshi diaspora and their enduring connection to their roots.
Kishwar Chowdhury, the celebrated chef who introduced the traditional Bangladeshi dish Panta Bhat to the global stage as “Smoked Rice, Water” during her remarkable MasterChef Australia journey, will lead guests through an engaging and interactive afternoon of storytelling, cooking, and cultural exploration. Her inspiring culinary journey has taken her from Melbourne to Bangladesh, London, and many destinations around the world, proudly showcasing Bangladeshi cuisine to international audiences.
The event has attracted overwhelming support from the Viqarunnisa alumni community, with attendees travelling from across Australia to join this special occasion in Port Melbourne. Nearly 200 guests are expected to attend, each receiving a complimentary copy of Kishwar Chowdhury’s recently published book, Smoke, Rice, Water, with many eagerly looking forward to having their copies personally signed by the author.
In keeping with VAAUS’s commitment to giving back, a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will support a charitable initiative benefiting underprivileged communities in Bangladesh. Further details of the charity project will be announced during the event.
VAAUS President Mrs Marium Shams expressed her excitement about the occasion and acknowledged the dedication of the organising team.
“VAAUS is more than an alumni association—it is a family bound by friendship, trust, and shared memories. Together, we lift each other, give back with purpose, and create a lasting impact in our community. Start as Viqi, Stop at Nothing!”
The sold-out event reflects the strength of the VAAUS community and its commitment to celebrating cultural heritage while making a positive difference through philanthropy. VAAUS looks forward to welcoming guests for an inspiring afternoon with one of Australia’s most celebrated Bangladeshi culinary ambassadors.
